Dutch Felt - Vilt in BeeldRia van Els-Dubelaar
ReviewThe author is a Dutch textile artist and course instructor. Together with her sister Agnes she runs Zijdar, a company specialised in silk products, in the Frisian town of Franeker. The present book is a source of inspiration for felt enthusiasts. Ria van Els-Dubelaar shows how her own pieces were produced from a wool-silk blend, and finally provides exact practical advice about the procedure. However, the major part of the book is given over to pieces by 30 other Dutch felt artists, including such well-known names as Claudy Jongstra and Inge Evers. Many new creative felters exhibit a mixture of detachment, obstinacy, and a minimalist use of means in the most amazing art objects - clothing, interior objects and felt fabrics. |
