Ms Suhandan Özay Demirkan, Professor and Head of the Textile, Fashion
and Accessories' Department
of the Fine Arts Faculty, Dokuz Eylül University, Izmir, was our
event co-ordinator in Turkey. Some Details of the EventThe conference had 137 participants from 27 foreign countries (32 participants came from Australia, New Zealand, Japan, India, Peru and North Amerika) and many Turkish participants who were not registered because their entry was free. Europeans were represented mainly by British (18 participants), Germans (16), Spanish (13), Dutch (9), Georgians (8) and, in lower numbers, people from 15 other European countries. Trips and tours were made to Konya by 12 persons; the Izmir city trip had 53 participants; the Woven Legend Restoration Workshop in Izmir saw 42 people, the trip to craft villages and towns like Tire 54; on the Yuntdag & Bergama trip were 21 persons and 70 of the Izmir conference participants had joint the long tour to Bursa and Istanbul. The 9 courses in Izmir and Konya took place with enough and in some cases even too many participants of whom we did not know their final number because there were many Turkish participants among them. The international exhibition had 357 applicants from 42 countries;
132 works of 111 artists from 31 countries were displayed, among them

Turkish and 23 artists from 8 non-European countries. Among the foreigners
the British and US artists dominated in numbers, with 9 artists each.
